"INITIATING ATTACK. INITIATING ATTACK.
COMMENCE EARTHLING ANNIHILATION.
"
― Gah-Goojin, Operation 001-B

Gah-Goojins are gigantic mechas used by The GEATHJERK Federation Supreme Armada. Heavily armored with more than enough firepower to single-handedly level entire cities, Gah-Goojins are walking fortresses capable of cataclysmic destruction. Luckily, GEATHJERK's endless hordes of Gah-Goojins were held at bay by Earth's Hyper Plasma Shield, but some were still able to reach the planet in time to wreak havoc.

First encountered during Operation 001-B, Gah-Goojins are a recurring boss enemy fought throughout the game.

Other bipedal assault weapons are based on the Gah-Goojin's design:
Wallgah-Goojin: Walltha-custom model with enhanced melee abilities.
Giga-Goojin: next-gen model controlled by a psychic link with its pilot.

GEATHJERK File[]

A bipedal assault weapon created to raid and conquer enemy bases. Designed for operations in differing gravitational fields, it has legs for locomotion and a power manipulator allowing the Gah-Goojin to mimic martial-arts moves for massive, strategic destruction. The robot is a slow, heavy mover, but its arsenal of heavy artillery and vicious body blows can deal enormous physical and psychological damage to the enemy.

With the mega photo cannon on its head, the power manipulators on the front of both right and left arms (each with a progressive photon cannon and dedicated pulverizing weapons powered by internally mounted hyperspace achievers), and the three-point diffusion plasma cannon stowed in its torso, it carries enough firepower to truly stand up to the name "walking fortress."

[The following paragraph is added during Operation 002-C]
The Gah-Goojin is also supremely customizable, as it can remove both heavy manipulators to create a docking port used to dock with the Assault Landing Ship Cough-foon, one of its many auxiliary combat functions.

The ionizing vernier thruster engines on the top section of its legs also enable the Gah-Goojin to fly, making brief aerial combat possible.

Description[]

Gah-Goojin gallery

Gah-Goojins are gigantic, heavily armored humanoid mechas. They have a top-heavy construction with small legs and oversized arms, and their head is recessed into the bulky armor of their torso, which gives them a hunched over posture. Gah-Goojins have a variety of weapons built into their bodies, making them powerful fighters both at range and in melee, and despite their gigantic size and lumbering movements Gah-Goojins are capable of agile attacks and even basic flight.
A Gah-Goojin's mouth doubles as its entrance, which can be used to deploy smaller troops and also leads directly into the control room in their heads. Gah-Goojins are also capable of speech, and can broadcast the voice of their users.

A Gah-Goojin can shed damaged armor to reveal supermagnetic spikes underneath, and being damaged even further will expose a building block-like inner frame. The color of the details on a Gah-Goojin indicates its health, changing from blue, green, yellow, orange, and lastly to red as it takes damage. A Gah-Goojin's overall health is usually displayed by the boss health bar, and in some encounters separate parts of a Gah-Goojin's body take damage independently.
One of the Gah-Goojin's most remarkable features is their ability to combine with Cough-Foons: if a Gah-Goojin's arm is lost, a Cough-Foon can dock into its shoulder to function as a replacement arm, allowing a Gah-Goojin to keep fighting at full capacity.

Following the events of Operation 005-C, a Gah-Goojin captured by the Wonderful Ones was customized by Immorta. This unique Gah-Goojin wears a heart-shaped eyepatch over its damaged right optic and details on its body were changed to pink.

Normally, a Gah-Goojin is crewed by a Chew Dough-Goo pilot and a Dough-Goo support team, however, Gah-Goojins seem capable of some automatic behavior if anything happens to its crew. Additionally, Gah-Goojins possess an autopilot system that makes it possible for a single person to operate a Gah-Goojin all on their own.

During Operation 009-B, The Wonderful Ones learn that Gah-Goojins knocked out by Platinum Robo can be effortlessly hijacked, courtesy of Wonder-Blue's discovery of the aforementioned autopilot button. Hijacking Gah-Goojins effectively serves as Platinum Robo's means of building a team during her on-foot sections, allowing the team to create "High-Def" Unite Morphs consisting of these gigantic mechas.
Hijacked Gah-Goojins change in appearance to match their users: its color changes to either match the color of a main character, blue for secret characters, or white for all minor characters. Additionally, the Gah-Goojin will deform to match the body type of its user and somehow procure an appropriate weapon.

As a recurring boss enemy, the abilities used by a Gah-Goojin and the strategies required to defeat them are different during every encounter with one, with fights often taking place across multiple phases each with new mechanics and tactics.

Recruitment[]

Gah-goojin mini 1

Gah-Goojins appear en masse as weak cannon fodder enemies during Operation 009's on-foot Platinum Robo sections. These "small" versions of Gah-Goojin pose little to no threat to Platinum Robo, but they are significant in that they can be "recruited" by knocking them out with any attack so that they can be hijacked by a Wonderful One, allowing you to build a giant robot team capable of performing High-Def Giga Unite Morphs.

These Gah-Goojins have practically no health and will be knocked out after taking a single hit from any damage source. They only possess 3 attacks, all of which can be blocked using Unite Guts (which will stun them, but not recruit them).

Trivia[]

  • The name Gah-Goojin is derived from "瓦偶人 (gagūjin)", an antiquated name for haniwa dolls. [1]
  • If you get a game over as a hijacked Gah-Goojin in Operation 009-B or 009-C, the game over screen will, as expected, show a Gah-Goojin's ghost crying over its body, and if you select YES to continue, it will even make a sound that sounds like "Roger!"
